Estimates, not advice

Everything on ProRata Calculate — every calculator result, worked example, guide and article — is general information about how pro rata calculations are performed. It is not financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, employment advice or HR consultancy, and it is not tailored to your circumstances. Regulated or personal questions belong with regulated or personal sources: HMRC for your tax position, Acas or Citizens Advice for your employment rights, a solicitor for contract disputes, and an authorised financial adviser for decisions about pensions or borrowing.

Where authority actually sits

Your employment contract, your employer’s payroll records and your payslips are the authoritative documents for your pay; your tenancy agreement is authoritative for your rent; HMRC’s published rates and your tax code are authoritative for your deductions. Where this site’s estimate and an authoritative document differ, treat the difference as a prompt to ask a written question — using the methods our guides describe — not as proof that either figure is wrong. Rates quoted on the site are those published for the UK tax year 2026/27 at the review date shown on each calculator page; rates change, and pages may lag an announcement by a short period while they are updated and rechecked.

Worked examples

Salaries, hours, rents and dates used in examples across the site are illustrative figures chosen to make the arithmetic visible. They are not statistics, averages, salary surveys or representations about any real employer, post or tenancy, and no real person’s pay is described anywhere on this site. Example results can be reproduced exactly with the inputs given; if you find one that cannot, please report it to [email protected] so it can be corrected.
