Privacy Policy
The short version
This site performs calculations in your web browser. The salary, hours, rent and date figures you type are never sent to us, never stored by us and never visible to us. We hold no accounts, run no contact database of calculator users, and set no advertising or tracking cookies. The only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to put in an email to us.
What happens when you use a calculator
Each calculator is ordinary JavaScript delivered with the page. When you type, the arithmetic happens on your device; closing the tab discards the figures. Two optional buttons behave differently and are labelled as such: “Copy link with my figures” builds a web address containing the numbers you entered, under your control, for you to paste wherever you choose — we are not a party to that link and receive no copy of it. Your browser may also remember form entries locally (autofill); that is a function of your browser, not of this site, and can be cleared in your browser settings.
Cookies and local storage
The site stores one value in your browser’s local storage: a flag recording that you dismissed the cookie notice, so the notice does not reappear on every page. It contains no identifier and is never read by us. Our cookie policy lists everything stored, which is a short list by design. If fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, your browser requests those files from Google’s servers, which involves the technical transmission of your IP address to Google as with any external file request; no calculator data is involved in that request.
If you email us at [email protected], we receive your email address and the contents of your message, handled by Gmail under Google’s terms. We use messages only to reply and, where a message reports an error, to correct the site. We do not add correspondents to mailing lists (we have none), do not sell or share addresses, and delete routine correspondence when it is no longer needed for the matter it concerned. Please do not send payslips, contracts, National Insurance numbers or other sensitive documents: we do not need them and cannot securely advise on them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may ask what personal information we hold about you (in practice: only emails you have sent us), ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you believe we have mishandled it. Write to [email protected] for any of these. Because we hold so little, most requests can be answered in full from the inbox itself.
Changes
If the site’s practices change — for example, if advertising is ever introduced — this policy and the cookie policy will be updated first, the changes dated, and the site’s cookie notice amended to match before any new data practice begins. The version above is the version that applies today.
